Okay. So you need to read the works cited first and then I can discuss things with you. What I see around me is all human cooperation whether that be in the market or otherwise. I haven't seen most people fighting and killing each other. Few who do that we make them our rulers instead of putting them into prisons or asylum.

Cooperation is what makes us humans, and not animals. The reasoning of jumping from animal behavior to human behavior in social science is a very dangerous tradition. It almost always misguides.

No sir, I have not read the books and works of Axelrod and Ridley. I have deducted their assumption from the description of the books on amazon website. I may be wrong about my assumption but I have bought Axelrod's book today. However I have watched this video

Dr. Madhusudan, I believe that the assumption of Robert Axelrod and Matt Ridley that "cooperation among the members of human society is the natural norm" is untrue to some extent. The humans have evolved from the same set of natural rules like other animals. We find in nature lions, tigers, wolves etc. compete with prides and packs for domination of territory. Humans are no exception. The conquest theory is correct as resources are scarce and if a resource deficient tribe explores and finds a resource rich tribe it is likely that the former will use force to capture the resources of the latter. History is filled with such examples. How will they cooperate? Since cooperation requires each side to give up some part of its resources for peaceful co-existence and as we know maximisation of profits and surplus is natural to humans, again due to evolution, it is natural the latter tribe will refuse to share. Therefore, in this case a conflict will arise and the rule of 'might is right' will be followed and the victorious will justify its victories over the vanquished. This whole phenomena of resource grabbing and expanding to control more resources eventually evolved into 'state'. Today, the state has emerged as a major exploiter of its people using all means. Only if and when humans are psychologically evolved to understand the importance of cooperation, we can end this facade. Thank You.
