Inflation is only an RBI induced problem, and it will go away once government stops its inflationary spending. Also, public schooling being free is a myth; parents incur lot of cost in public schools too. Also, the opportunity cost of lost grooming of our child in public school is way too expensive compared to expenses of homeschooling. Low cost private schools are already educating children in slums of the world e.g., see this book (https://www.amazon.in/Beautiful-Tree-James-Tooley/dp/0670083739). Once government gets out of education sector, and elsewhere, competition will lower prices of everything. The tendency of capitalism is always to lower the prices gradually.

Vouchers are useless as they tie even private schools with the state funding and make them subordinate to schooling bureaucracy and political control. It is bringing back the state into more control from the backdoor actually.

Dr. Madhusudan, an excellent article and a precise one. I have a relative whose son had some mental issues. Instead of inducting him in school, his parents homeschooled him in tandem with relevant treatment. Today, that person is successfully running the family business. Homeschooling is a good option. However, aren't homeschooling and other non-regimented styles of learning expensive? Don't you think that families in lower income group cannot afford this and they have to opt for the public education system for their child? What about the voucher system,? Thank you, Sir.
